Hypnotherapy for Parents:
Supporting you to support your child

Being a parent is one of the hardest jobs in the world and it's not a job that you clock out of at the end of the day. There's no manual of how things should you be done and when you throw into the mix the daily stresses of work, running a household and everything in between - it can all feel quite overwhelming.

If you're feeling like this please know you're not alone. In fact, 82% of parents admit to struggling with at least one of the warning signs that may indicate parental burnout.

And it can be even harder to navigate when your child is struggling with their mental health.

This can impact your sleep, your performance and how you show up day-to-day.

Children are like sponges and they can easily pick up on our subtle tones, behaviour changes which then impact on how they feel.  When your child is refusing to do something that you have asked them to do, it can certainly be a challenge to stay calm and deal with the situation rationally.

This can be a hard pill to swallow... but despite your best intentions, you might be transferring your own anxiety and stresses onto your child and as a result this amplifies the situation.

Although I do work with children, I have found that the most effective method of achieving the best results that benefit the whole family, is to work with the parent(s).

Together, we work in a judgement-free environment. With over 10 years in the education system supporting parents and young people, I can help support you with practical, solution-focused tools so that you can feel more relaxed and confident in supporting your child's needs.

FAQ

  • What age can children have hypnotherapy?

I am able to work with children aged 8 and over. If your child is younger, feel free to contact me as I can work with you as the parent to support your child. Quite often children pick up subconscious cues and I can work with you to identify small changes that can help you with supporting your child’s needs.

  • How are sessions conducted?

Please note that at the moment, I am only running my clinic with children and teenagers over Zoom.

For younger children, I suggest that it is a good idea that a parent or carer is with them during the initial consultation. If they are slightly anxious then it may be helpful for the parent to stay with them for subsequent sessions.

However, it is important, particularly with older children and teenagers, that we respect the child’s choice if they wish to see me on their own.

Whilst you can be present in each session, my attention will be with the child. For the process to be effective, it is important that they are able to voice their own thoughts and visualisations for a more positive future.
